AI for Revit: MCP tools your team can trust

AI assistants can now read Autodesk® Revit® models through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). We help you set that up safely, build the tools your firm actually needs on top of it, and clean the model data so the answers are right.

What's new

Autodesk released a Revit MCP server for Revit 2027.

In June 2026 Autodesk introduced the Revit Public MCP Server as a tech preview for Revit 2027. It lets AI assistants that support MCP find running Revit sessions, query and filter elements, read parameters, select elements, open views, and export views or schedules.

The first release is read-only: the assistant can look, not change the model. Autodesk says tools that write to the model are planned as a separate server.

Where a general tool stops. A general MCP server knows Revit. It doesn't know your parameter names, your rack ID scheme, your sheet standard or your QA rules. That's the gap custom tools fill.

Example question your team could ask: "Which racks in DH1 have their A and B feeds on the same RPP?" With a custom tool, the assistant runs your own check and returns the list. Without one, it guesses from raw parameters.

What we build

Three ways to start.

Set up and rules

Install and test the Revit MCP server with the assistant your IT team approves, read-only first. We write a one-page use policy: which models, which assistant, what data may leave the building.

pilot $750–$1,500

Custom MCP tools

Your checks and exports as tools an assistant can call: data center power path checks, sheet list audits, parameter reports, standards checks. Built in C# on the Revit API, with full source.

$4,000–$15,000

AI-ready model data

An assistant is only as good as the parameters it reads. A model health check plus a cleanup tool fixes empty, duplicated and badly named parameters first.

from $500 per model

Prices in USD, excluding any applicable taxes. The Revit Public MCP Server needs Revit 2027. On Revit 2024 to 2026 we can build the same tools as add-in commands your team runs from the ribbon.

Safety first

How we keep AI in Revit under control.

  • Read-only tools first. Tools that change the model come later, only if you ask, and show a preview before anything changes
  • Every model change runs inside a Revit transaction you can undo, and the tool logs what it changed
  • Tools return your own rule results, not a guess, so answers can be checked
  • You choose the AI assistant and where it runs. Your IT team approves it
  • Our AI policy: we don't put your models, drawings or project data into AI tools. AI is used on your data only with your written approval, in tools you approve
  • Outputs are drafting and data aids. Your licensed professionals review the results and remain responsible for the design

AI for Revit FAQ

Do we need Revit 2027?

For the Autodesk Revit Public MCP Server, yes. For older versions, the same checks can be built as ribbon commands, and moved to MCP when you upgrade. See Revit 2027 add-in migration.

Will the AI change our model without asking?

Not with tools we build. We start read-only. Any tool that writes shows a preview, runs in a transaction you can undo, and logs the change.

Which AI assistant should we use?

The one your IT and security teams approve. MCP is an open protocol, so the tools work with any assistant that supports it.

Does our project data leave our network?

That depends on the assistant you choose, which is why we write the use policy with you first. If a project restricts who can see files, tell us on the scoping call.

Free 30-minute scoping call

Have a Revit task your team repeats every week?

Tell us about it. Within 2 business days of the call you get a written scope with a fixed price for a pilot or first phase, and an estimate range for anything bigger. No obligation.
